Our lesson was about Factors Influencing a Selection. There are 3 Factors of Influence on a Selection, the first factor is Text and Culture. Culture refers to the beliefs, customs, values, and practices of a certain race. Literary works are particularly good indexes of these values as it is used to tackle culture in depth. In every setting of the story comes societal influence for authors usually gathered ideas based on the occurring trend or practices that will greatly impact characters’ way of living. The second factor is Text and History. History plays a fundamental role in shaping a text. The third factor is Text and Environment. The environment helps the readers realize every characters’ predicament as authors usually use this to narrate the circumstances that the characters experienced.
The activities are easy and you can do them right away. I learned that Internal factors such as the author’s emotion, background, and style of writing may also, influence the entire story. And Reading Selection fosters meditation and manifestation and improves one’s proficiency in language and vocabulary. It can also help a person to explore, perceive truth, make value judgments, and see the world in different colors as it is influenced by culture, history, and environment. There's none I find difficult. The highlight of the discussion is to explain how a selection may be influenced by culture, history, environment, and other factors.
Our lesson was about Making Connections. Making connections is a means of connecting knowledge with new information and experiences. This method enables learners to connect whatever they read, observe, do, and experience to themselves, the society surrounding us, and other activities they have read previously, observed, or encountered. There are three types of Making Connections, first type is text-to-self connections. This connection is personal connections that you make between yourself and the selection you are dealing with. The second type is text-to-text connections, this connection is where you relate one material to another that you have read and already come across. The third type is text-to-world connections, this connection is the larger connections that a reader brings to a reading situation including our perception of the world.

Comparing and Contrasting texts is one of the most challenging critical reading skills to acquire because it requires evaluating and synthesizing. People, places, objects, and events can all be compared and contrasted.
The activities are easy and you can do them right away. I learned that Comparing is not good if we're looking for a feeling of superiority or to escape having to push ourselves to perform better. However, such a negative comparison can serve as a reminder of our own misfortune. They can also benefit us when we consider the things we regret but are powerless to change.
